This morning I sat on our front porch and watched the sunrise, sipping my coffee, enjoying the loud and wonderful sounds of Canadian geese in the field across the road, and the flutter and chirps of tiny birds visiting the basket feeders without a whisp of care for the chilly 28* temperature. There is just something so relaxing and wonderful to me about the sound of geese. Still, at the age of 57, when they fly overhead, it brings tears to my eyes…I don’t know why. And when they fly overhead, so low you can hear their wings flapping…..oh MY!!!
Our skies were pink this morning and the frost was a heavy one ~ a sure sign we shall have a storm in a few days. :) Oh, I do hope it is snow! This weekend, I gathered two carloads of bittersweet ~ and, along with a fifty-foot length of grapevine my wonderful husband pulled from the tree tops in our woods, I secured it along the length of our front porch. I did this last year and the birds LOVED it as it made a bit of a sanctuary for them :) I took it down in December but I am not going to do that this year. Today I will add a string or two of tiny twinkle lights and there it will stay, right through the winter. I am hoping when I add our evergreen window wreaths and yuletide decor, it will all blend well together. :)

Our weekend was a lovely one. Mark and I had lunch out with our son and grandson on Saturday. Afterward, Grampa and Daddy headed off to finish up the last of their fall cleanup, and the little man and I went to the library. After the library, we gathered bittersweet. The little man followed me around his yard with his “buggy”, carrying the bittersweet in the back and taking multiple trips back to the driveway to drop it behind my car (he is SUCH A GOOD HELPER), while his dad was busy raking and burning leaves and brush nearby, the smoke wafting gently in the air, and mingling with the sounds of hundreds of geese flying low overhead as they gathered in the fields near their house. On Sunday, I spent several hours hanging the grapevine and bittersweet and making the front porch cozy for Autumn. :). I also made a batch of spaghetti sauce and a loaf of sourdough. I had planned to make apple crisp as well but never got to it. Sunday evening we joined the kids in Saratoga, NY for dinner at one of our favorites Boca Bistro. A perfect Autumn weekend. HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND? I hope it was a WONDERFUL one full of the things you love to do. :)
This week is a busy one for me ~ lots of things to finish so I can offer them on my website on Friday (or perhaps Saturday or Sunday)..not sure just yet. Turkeys and snowfolke will be available ~ fair warning….there are no two alike..:) I do not seem to possess that ability…. :)
I do hope to recreate this little fellow’s body shape though unfortunately, not for this upcoming update as I won’t have time. :)
Okay, friends. That is it for me today ~ Must get to work. Oh, before I go….a photo of yesterday’s bake;
*Thanks for being here friends and THANK YOU for listening..Off I go. Be well, LOVE TO ALL ~ Doreen
Sounds like the perfect weekend to me, Doreen. And your gobblers are personable, so don't regret them not being identical.
Lovely! And what a beautiful way to invite the birds in close! :)
