Hello lovely readers ~ The rain and fog, outside our windows will not dampen our Christmas spirit. The birds are enjoying their breakfast as well as the outdoor Yuletide decorations. I always seem to think they enjoy the outdoor lights. I am sure it brightens their day and puts them in the holiday spirit as well, don’t you think? Inside the tree is up, with its soft lights and simple decorations ~ I love it
Our little man picked the tree, and helped cut it with his pretend chainsaw ~ could he be any cuter??
He then helped me decorate it ~ he was SO excited about being able to help do all of it, that I could have cared less if they all came out wonky. After his parents came to get him on Sunday morning, I made a few minor adjustments and all is perfect. He’s the kind of kid who will notice….and I will hear “Mimi, I didn’t put that one there” …he has the most amazing memory I have ever seen in a child…. so I only straightened, and did not move :).
On Sunday afternoon, when all was quiet, Mark was in his office, the little man back home, I settled myself down to dry some oranges and grapefruit…Oh my goodness, they make the house smell positively amazing. You just slice thinly, place on parchment paper lined baking sheets, and dry in a 200*F oven, for 3 hours, then place them on cooking racks to fully dry for a couple of days. Mine are currently finishing their drying under the woodstove :)
*These are not fully dry, I scooped them into my dough bowl for photo purposes, then I returned them to the spot under the woodstove. :)*
Today I have orders to pack and ship and spun cotton snowfolke to finish.
How was your weekend? What does your week hold?
Be well friends, Doreen
Beautiful! Dried citrus slices are now on my list of things to try :)
I bet it does smell divine. And they look so festive, too.
