Well we are headed to Martha’s Vineyard for another week before we wrap the boat for the winter. Once I’m home I will pick up my knitting again. It’s downright chilly here and leaves are starting to change color already! That’s really early for us. I’m grateful our boat has heat!
Oh! Your shawl will be lovely, Doreen...and so much moreso for the making of it! I knit occasionally, but I must admit it is a challenge for me. I knit the Jane Eyre shawl and had to frog and re-knit 14 times before I got the concept of short rows. But I did it!
Goode morning deare Nancy. Thank you so much. Oh gosh, I had to restart my shawl 7 times before I finally "got it." I am very thankful I used a practice yarn to figure things out (as much as I did anyway lol) before my good yarn arrived. You are better than I as I have no idea what frog means...or short rows for that matter :). I will have to look up the Jane Eyre shawl!!! hugs, D
I’ve felt the impulses to wash windows and start a knitting project as autumn nudges away the last days of summer. And a new (to me) idea—putting a basket of slippers near the front door for visitors to wear. The idea is not to protect the flies. Although that’s a bonus. I just like people to feel comfortable and warm.
Good morning, Sharon. It is that time of year to be sure. LOVE your idea of putting a basket of slippers near the front door ~ BRILLIANT!!! Enjoy the day ~ Doreen
I would love to help, then you could come help me do the same with my room !!! I have never tried cinnamon in my cocoa, but will try now. Is your cocoa from scratch or a premix ? Have a wonderful work, don't work to hard, pace yourself !!
Good morning, Julie. Oh, if only I had seen this last week lol. The cocoa is from scratch...love homemade cocoa. You'll love the cinnamon (at least I hope you do). I started off guns blazing but was soon forced to pace myself :). Enjoy the day, Doreen
You paint a pretty picture, Doreen! It’s still very hot here in California. I don’t knit, but my mother-in-law does, and sometimes I’m the beneficiary of one of her beautiful creations! I hope fall arrives soon so I can wear her latest frilly scarf and make some hot chocolate with cinnamon, my favorite fall spice. Your cat is just adorable!😻
Goode morning Ruth. I am hoping you are far from the terrible wildfires happening in CA!!! Oh, how wonderful to receive handknit items...so love them!! Thank you. Wishing you cool weather and happy sipping. :) Enjoy the day, Doreen
Oh, nippy weather sounds divine. We are still in the throes of summer with temps in the high 80s, but even that is better than the low 90s. I think the long, hot summer has deadened the apple trees' desire to produce. They were full of blossoms in the spring, but after a giant crop last year, I doubt that there are more than 20 or 30 on our two trees, and even though they are not ripe, they are starting to drop. I am not a knitter, but I can tell your work is excellent, even for a beginner.
And I love that yarn.
I know you will enjoy your segway into fall. Share more with us when you can.
Goode morning Marilee. I am so sorry to hear about your apple trees. The apple trees here are loaded but they are all dropping much sooner than expected.... this weather is creating havoc everywhere. :(
Thank you so much. I am very much enjoying relaxing in the evenings with my yarn and needles clicking. I find it so relaxing. Enjoy the day, Doreen
Shawl is taking shape! Looks nice Doreen!
Goode morning Kellie. Thank you so much. How is your knitting project going? D
